Privacy Policy
1. Who we are
Privacy Smart Home ( www.privacysmarthome.com) is an independent editorial site publishing comparative guides on privacy-focused and local-first smart home technology. Contact for privacy matters: use the site owner’s administrative contact on your hosting or domain registrar records, or reach out via any contact method published on this site if added later.
2. What data we collect
- Server and hosting logs. Our hosting provider (e.g. Vercel or similar) may log IP addresses, request paths, timestamps, and user agents for security and operations. We do not use those logs to build individual profiles for marketing.
- No account, no comment database. This site does not require login for reading guides. If contact forms or newsletters are added later, this policy will be updated and consent will be requested where required by law.
3. Cookies and local storage
This site is designed to work without intrusive tracking cookies. Essential cookies may be set by the hosting or CDN for security and delivery. If we add analytics or embedded media that sets cookies, we will update this page and, where applicable, provide a consent mechanism in line with UK GDPR / EU GDPR and similar laws.
4. Third-party services
Pages may link to external documentation (manufacturers, standards bodies, community forums). Those sites have their own privacy policies. We are not responsible for their practices.
5. Affiliate and commercial relationships
We may use affiliate links in the future. When we do, we will disclose the relationship near the link or in a clear site-wide notice. Affiliate programs may place cookies or receive referrer data according to their own policies.
6. Your rights (EEA, UK, and similar jurisdictions)
Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, rectify, erase, restrict, or object to processing of personal data, and to data portability. To exercise rights related to data we hold, contact us with a description of your request. We will respond within the timeframes required by applicable law.
7. Children
Our content is intended for adults researching home technology. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 16. If you believe we have such information, contact us for deletion.
8. Changes
We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect legal, technical, or editorial changes. The “Last updated” date at the top will change when we do. Continued use of the site after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy where permitted by law.
