1. Mission

Privacy Smart Home publishes comparative guides focused on privacy, local control, and offline resilience for home automation. Our primary reader is someone who wants to reduce mandatory cloud lock-in and make informed hardware and software choices.

2. Independence

Rankings and recommendations are driven by stated criteria (e.g. local API availability, protocol support, subscription requirements), not by payments from vendors. We do not sell editorial placement or guarantee positive coverage in exchange for fees.

3. AI-assisted research and writing

Some articles are drafted or researched with assistance from AI tools, then edited by humans for accuracy, clarity, and alignment with our checklist. We cite primary sources (documentation, standards, vendor specs) where possible. You should still verify critical details (compatibility, security settings) before purchase or deployment.

4. Corrections

If you believe an article contains a factual error, please report it with the page URL and the correction suggested. We will review and update content when appropriate and note material corrections near the article date when significant.

5. Affiliate links

If affiliate links are used, they will be disclosed in-context or in a site notice. Affiliate relationships do not change our scoring methodology; they may help fund hosting and editorial time.

6. Updates

Smart home products and APIs change frequently. Articles include “last updated” metadata where we maintain the MDX frontmatter; substantive refreshes follow the same QA process as new guides.
